Cardinal Nation

Determination. Dedication. Domination.

North Central Cardinals tore apart their competition this weekend.  Starting with the 15th National Championship for Cross Country Saturday, progressing to Football taking down Cal Lutheran, and advancing to the second round of the playoffs, then capping off the evening with the women's and men's basketball team winning their final games.  Who wouldn't be proud to be a cardinal!

Cardinal pride is ever gleaming from athlete to athlete, student to student.  From watching football take down their opponents at Bar Louie, and seeing the overwhelming amount of families, friends, faculty and staff show up to support, and then entering Merner Fieldhouse to see red spread throughout the gym, makes me proud to be part of this institution as a coach and a student.  Hopefully this pride, and the amount of dedication and determination put into practices and preparing for their recent competitions, will only continue on throughout this week and preparing for finals.  These student-athletes are proud of the colors they wear and the school they represent.

Epic and Wild weekend for the cardinals.Keep fighting and keep winning.

Happy Birthday and Thank you

November 10, 2012 was the 237th birthday of the Marine Corp., and today we honor those who have fought for our country and those who currently serve and protect us.  Today is not simply a day off work, but a day for remembrance of what our country has fought for, and how thankful we are for those who choose to give themselves to the safety of our country and to fighting for our future.  We can live the lives we live without fear because of these men and women.   When searching Google for remembrance quotes and topics to honor our veterans, I came across the following:
A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.

Joseph Campbell
Freedom is never free.

We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.

Cynthia Ozick
Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die.

G.K. Chesterton
These men and women are heroes and I believe we should take a moment today to realize the commitment they give to our country, and to be thankful for all they have fought for and defended for us.
